Hunt launches Spanish wine supplier

PR man turned winemaker Harry Hunt of Bodegas Tierra Hermosa in Malaga has launched a Spanish wine sourcing service for importers and distributors.

The Brit, who left the UK to make wine in Andalucía in 2010 with his wife Katie, has founded the subsidiary to help international importers and distributors source Spanish wines across all styles and price points.

“International interest in Spanish wine is flourishing. We continue to find new and surprising markets for our wines from Andalucía, and it would appear that these global consumers are increasingly receptive to exploring different Spanish wine regions, styles and grape varieties,” said the Plumpton graduate.

Hunt will use his contacts and act as an outsourced Spanish wine buyer for international importers via the new business, Tierra Hermosa – Vinos de España.

“Spain has so much to offer on the wine front and we’re excited about our ability to help importers find a suitable product given our extensive knowledge of the region,” he told db.

“Smaller importers and distributors, or retailers who might buy direct, may not have the immediate contacts in Spain or the resources to be sending individuals on buying trips – particularly if they are looking for smaller quantities. That’s hopefully where we can help,” he added.

Bodegas Tierra Hermosa produces a range of wines form Andalucía, which it distributes around the world. Among the wines in the range are a Tempranillo from Granada and a Macabeo/Viognier blend from Almería.
