Hatch Mansfield plans new launches at LWF

Hatch Mansfield, the UK distributor for producers such as Villa Maria, Champagne Taittinger, Louis Jadot and Kliene Zalze, will be showcasing its latest vintages and brand launches at the London Wine Fair.

Highlights from the Hatch Mansfield stand W40 will be wines from its new partner, New Zealand’s Te Awa Winery in Hawkes Bay. Also on show will be several new wines including Villa Maria’s new “Lighter” range of Private Bin wines that are naturally lower in alcohol; the very first UK showing of Taittinger Brut Vintage 2008; and Spanish producer CVNE’s new Buenos Dias wines, which are the first in the CVNE range to hail from outside the Rioja region.

Chilean brand Caliterra will be showing a new addition to its range, a blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carignan named “DSTNTO”, an abbreviation for the Spanish word for “distinctive” (RRP £12.70). Brainchild of chief winemaker and Francophile, Rodrigo Zamorano, it has been in development since 2013, and is targeting independent retailers in the UK.

Taittinger will be presenting the new Brut Vintage 2008 (RRP £54.35, available in both the on and off-trade). Also on show will be the new Taittinger Nocturne Rosé Sec NV (RRP £51.90, available in both the on and off-trade) – a new wine to pair with the existing Nocturne Sec. In attendance will be Clovis Taittinger, family member and export director.

Hatch Mansfield will be showing the Burgundian producer Louis Jadot’s Beaune 1er cru Celebration 2012 (RRP £40.90, available in both the on and off-trade). Released only when the vintage is good enough, this wine is a blend of seventeen of Louis Jadot’s smaller Beaune 1er cru vineyards. This is only the second vintage to be released – the first was the 2008 vintage released in 2011 to celebrate 150 years of Louis Jadot.

Moving to Sancerre producer Joseph Mellot, a new addition to the Hatch Mansfield portfolio, a range of its wines will feature alongside the new Châteaumeillant Le Grand Rocher Rosé 2013 (RRP £18.75), which is targeting independent retailers. Catherine Corbeau Mellot, Joseph Mellot president, will be in attendance on Tuesday 19th, alongside Olivier Rivain, the export director, who will be in attendance for all three days.

From the Rhône, Hatch Mansfield will be showing the latest vintages of a selection of wines from the Jean Luc Colombo range, including the Cornas “Collection” wines as well as new vintages of their Picpoul de Pinet and Mediterranean Rosé.

Hailing from South Africa, Kleine Zalze’s Methode Cap Classique NV Brut (RRP£19.40, targeting the off-trade) and Family Reserve Chenin Blanc 2014 (RRP £22.05, targeting independents) are new to the UK and available to try for the first time at LWF. Also on show will be the new Cleefs Classic Collection and Reserve Collection wines, which have been created with independents and regional wholesale in mind.

And finally, in a departure from CVNE’s traditional Rioja heartland, Hatch Mansfield will present two varietal wines to launch the new Buenos Dias range. Targeted at the UK off-trade and independents at RRP £10.75 and £12.65 respectively, the range consists of two wines: the Buenos Dias Verdejo ‘La Bañista’ 2014 is made from 100% Verdejo grapes from Rueda, grown at high altitudes of 700-800m, and the Buenos Dias Tempranillo ‘Minotauro’ 2013, made using 100% Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero region. Other wines from across the CVNE range will also be on show.
