Ex-Ruinart winemaker launches Champagne
Jean Philippe “JP” Moulin, a former winemaker for Ruinart, has launched his own range of Champagnes after raising €500,000 (£400,000) through crowdfunding.

Moulin raised the funds needed to launch his brand through investments made by Naked Wine’s “angels”, which currently number 200,000. The privately-funded company sees angels invest $40 a month to help fund the projects of independent winemakers, in return for discounted rates on their products.
Moulin, a Champagne-maker with decades of experience, has worked for prestigious Champagne labels including Ruinart Champagne, Mumm and Maison Perrier-Jouët. Now, with €500,000 worth of funding, he is using his experience to launch his own range of four Champagnes under his own name.
He said: “I’ve always dreamed of creating a range under my own name, so this opportunity has been life-changing. To repay the Angels who crowdfunded my brand, I’m offering a chance to experience authentic French Champagnes that would normally sell for two, three or four times the price available to Angel investors.”
Naked Wines is currently offering its investors exclusivity on the range at discounted rates offering Moulin’s Blanc de Blanc for $49.99, his non-vintage Brut for $29.99, Rosé Champagne for $49.99, and his vintage Champagne for just $39.99.

Rowan Gormley, founder of NakedWines.com, said: “JP is a legend in the wine world, so it’s a real coup to bring a winemaker of his stature on board. At NakedWines.com, you don’t have to be rich to drink great wines, and with the launch of JP’s fantastic new range, you don’t have to empty your bank account to experience the very best bubbly either.”
Moulin’s Champagne range will be offered to the general public at their full list price after six months.
