Birra Spalmabile, or “spreadable beer,” does not contain any alcohol but it made from 40% beer, according to its producers, Alta Quotta.
The concoction comes in two varieties and claims to transfer the taste of beer into a paste which “spreads like ganache” and has a sticky, smooth texture”.
The first flavour can be likened to a light, “fruity beer”, with the second based on the characteristics of black beer.
Its producers, Alta Quota, describe it as being “intense and full-bodied” and suited to being served with appetisers and cheeses, on crostini or used to “fill sweet pastry, fluffy cake and ice cream.”
