Gordon Ramsay opens HK venue
Renowned chef Gordon Ramsay’s first Hong Kong venue, Bread Street Kitchen, is preparing for its formal opening later this month.
Situated in the heart of popular night spot Lan Kwai Fong, the venue is an extension of the original Bread Street Kitchen in London and has seating for 90 diners and another 30 at the bar.
The interior mirrors the “lively warehouse feel” of the original London brasserie with a mix of vintage and modern decor.
Currently enjoying a “soft” opening with diners allowed in for dinner and – from today (8 September) – lunch as well, the restaurant will open properly on 18 September offering its traditional British fare “reinvented” by the famous chef.
Signature dishes include cote de boeuf and roasted veal carpaccio, truffle crème fraiche and artichoke, king crab cocktail with apple and pink peppercorn, honey short ribs with pomelos, scallions and sesame seeds and kale, red cabbage, shaved fennel, sunflower and pumpkin seeds with white balsamic dressing.
A bar area will serve up a collection of traditional and new cocktails as well as wine from around the world.
The head chef of the Hong Kong venue is Gilles Bosquet, who has lengthy experience with the Gordon Ramsay Group in London and the Middle East, where he opened a restaurant in Doha and “Opal” by Gordon Ramsay at the St Regis Hotel.
Gordon Ramsay commented: “This is an exciting step, entering the amazing food culture of the Asian market with one of our successful London concepts.
“We’re drawn to Hong Kong, as the first place in the region to open, as it has a vibrant and welcoming dining scene with lots of food lovers and explorers looking for new food and drink experiences. I can’t wait to open the doors.”
