Man found dead in beer delivery tanker

The body of a delivery driver has been recovered from the bottom of a beer tanker at a UK brewery.

Workers at the JW Lees’ Greengate Brewery in Manchester discovered the man unconscious at the bottom of a beer delivery tanker on 28 August, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

Fire crews were able to extract the body from the tanker and paramedics were called to the brewery but the man, who was in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tanker was empty at the time and it is not clear if the man fell or climbed into the tanker having scaled its roof.

William Lees-Jones, managing director of the JW Lees brewery, told the paper: “This has obviously been very upsetting for everyone involved at the brewery and our hearts go out to the driver’s family.

“As a family brewery we’re a close knit team and we’ll be offering whatever support our team members need, as well as working closely with the authorities to help understand what happened today.”

The UK’s Health and Safety Executive has since launched an investigation into the incident.
