Particles of glass found in Corona bottles

Constellation has recalled some cases of Corona in the US after particles of glass were discovered floating inside some bottles.

Constellation issued a recall for some of its Corona bottles on Friday

Constellation Brands, which imports the Mexican beer, said less than 1% of its beverages were thought to be affects issuing a voluntary recall on Friday.

The recall specifically covers 12-ounce clear bottles in six-pack, 12-pack, and 18-pack packages, bottles which Constellation said had been manufactured by a third party.

It does not include Corona Light bottles, Corona Familiar, Coronitas or Corona Extra in cans, 24-packs, loose bottles or 24 oz. bottles.

Bill Hackett, President of Constellation Brands Beer Division, said: “We are troubled by this development and are working proactively with our distributors, retailers and consumers to resolve this situation as quickly as possible.

“Throughout its history, Corona Extra is a brand that has been synonymous with quality, consistency and refreshment. Our entire organization, including our brewers, our production team, and all our employees across our system, is absolutely committed to doing everything possible to complete this recall quickly, and ensure the safety of our consumers and integrity of our product.”

The drinks group is advising consumers to check the code number printed on each glass bottle’s neck, and packaging, to see if it matches bottles affected. (pictured).

Anyone with an affected bottle should go to Corona’s website or call 1-866-204-9407 for instructions on how to be reimbursed.

The company said it had not received any reports of injuries resulting from the affected bottles.
