BrewDog to open London bar

BrewDog, Scotland’s largest independent brewery, will open its fourth bar in London tomorrow (August 15) with the launch of BrewDog Clapham Junction.

Ready to serve: The new BrewDog bar in Clapham, London

Located at 11-13 Battersea Rise, London, the new bar will be the 17th UK bar to be opened by the brewery, and its 22nd worldwide.

The new Clapham Junction bar is the first to be opened in South London by the brewery, which already operates bars in the Camden, Shoreditch and Shepherd’s Bush areas of the capital.

BrewDog Clapham Junction will have capacity for 120 people and it will feature 24 beers on tap.

As is traditional in all BrewDog bars, Clapham Junction will not only showcase the brewery’s own beers, but also offer craft beers from other breweries around the world

Regular events such as ‘Meet the Brewer’ and brew sessions will be held at the bar, which will serve a selection of artisanal meat and cheese boards

The new Clapham Junction bar is BrewDog’s ninth bar launch in 2014, following openings in São Paulo, Tokyo, Sheffield, Gothenburg, Dundee, Florence, Cardiff and a tap room at its headquarters in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

Hot on the heels of BrewDog Clapham Junction, the brewery is already looking at a second bar location in Glasgow as well as Brighton and Liverpool.

Further afield, BrewDog also has plans to launch bars in Rome, Bologna, Helsinki and Berlin.

Shine on: A neon sign in the new bar

In the last five years, BrewDog has experienced an average annual growth of 285%, making it the fastest growing food and drinks company in the UK according to The Sunday Times.

BrewDog’s bar division has played a big part in that exceptional growth, with the brewery opening 22 bars in just four years.

In April, BrewDog opened its first off-licence ‘BottleDog’ in Kings Cross, London and the brewery plans to open a series of additional locations this year.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt commented: “We’re thrilled to be setting up a BrewDog home in Clapham Junction. With a bar in North, East and West London, we knew we had to give the people of South London a bar on their doorstep.

“With bars in all four corners of the capital, it means Londoners should never have to travel too far to get their hands on some great craft beer.”
