Pub’s 700-strong whisky collection on sale
A UK pub which claims to have one of the world’s largest collections of whisky has been put up for sale with an asking price of £250,000.
The Grade II listed George Hotel in Leadenham, Lincolnshire
Mike and Karin Willgoose, landlords of The George Hotel in Leadenham, Lincolnshire, have collected more than 700 whiskies over the last 35 years, all of which are on offer to their patrons – the most expensive being a 50-year-old 1937 Pride of Strathspey which sells for £500 a dram.
Now, after 45 years under the couple’s ownership, the Grade II listed pub has been put on the market along with its illustrious whisky collection with an asking price of £250,000, as reported by the Sleaford Standard.

Speaking to the paper Mr Willgoose said of his most sought after dram: “We don’t sell many of that one but everybody always wants to know which one it is and it is supposed to be nectar to taste.”
Presenting the “free of tie” property to the market under a part freehold arrangement, Leeds-based agency Fleurets said: “The George is also well-known for it’s extensive collection of almost 700 Whisky’s ranging in price up to £500 per shot. This is a really unique selling point and generates additional income from Whisky lovers and clearly has the opportunity to achieve so much more.”
The pub’s collection is said to include Highland single malts, Speysides, Scottish single malts, Indian, Japanese, American, Canadian and English whiskies, among others.
