IWSC hunts for outstanding achiever
The International Wine & Spirit Competition has teamed up with Waitrose to begin its search for a winner of this year’s Julian Brind Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement.
The late Julian Brind MW
Inspired by the late Julian Brind MW, a key member of Waitrose’s wine team for over 40 years and a longstanding IWSC judge, the award was set up in 2011 to honour his contribution to the drinks trade.
The winner of this award must be able to show that “they have the courage of their convictions, dedication to the industry and a passion for real wine.”
In addition, the recipient “will have established an early track record in their field, be seen to be ‘going places’, and will already be taking part in the wider aspects of the wine trade, showing commitment and determination in everything they do.”
Last year’s winner of this award was Xavier Rousset MS, who branched out from his ownership of Michelin-starred restaurant Texture to establish the 28-50 chain of wine bars around London.
