Body discovered in vineyard
The body of a man has been discovered at a vineyard in Fresno County, California.
Farm workers discovered the body on Tuesday morning at the vineyard near Manning and Cherry avenues, south of Easton, according to reports by abc.com.
Chris Curtice, with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, said: “They immediately backed out and called 9-1-1. Deputies responded and when they did, they did find the body of a deceased male.”
The body, which officials said had been at the vineyard for “several days”, has been identified locally as Rudy Gonzales, however this has not as yet been officially confirmed by the deputy coroner.
Investigators have suggested the man died sometime within the last week and that there was no evidence of foul play, but that it was difficult to say as the body had been outside in the sun for an extended period of time.
A bike was found nearby to the body.
Curtice added: “We don’t know if it’s a homicide at this time but we are treating it as a suspicious death until we find out more.”
An autopsy to determine the cause of death is currently underway.
