Constellation names new NZ head
Constellation Brands New Zealand has poached Sam Glaetzer from Treasury Wine Estates to become its new managing director.
Glaetzer is due to join Constellation, whose New Zealand portfolio includes brands such as Kim Crawford, Nobilo and Selaks, on 14 July for a three month transition period before current CEO Joe Stanton retires in September. He will report to Jay Wright, president of Constellation’s wine and spirits division.
Having spent the majority of his career with first Fosters and then its demerged wine division Treasury Wine Estates, most recently as director of New Zealand production & brands, Glaetzer brings experience in building a global market for the Matua brand as well as wider supply responsibilities.
According to Scoop Media, Glaetzer’s new Auckland-based role will see him implement “a comprehensive growth strategy for vineyard and winery expansion as well as driving sales and marketing across New Zealand and Australia.”
Commenting on his appointment, Glaetzer said: “The New Zealand wine industry continues to grow in all key global markets. And it’s a great opportunity to join the Constellation team that is leading from the front with its people, wine quality, investment and scale.”
