Beer seller makes great accidental catch at MLB game
A beer vendor at Citizens Bank Park, the home of MLB team the Philadelphia Phillies, found himself on the highlight reel when he caught a ball in the beer bucket he’d perched on top of his head.
The Phillies were playing the LA Dodgers on Saturday afternoon when Carlos Ruiz struck a foul ball into the stands. Beer vendor, Earl Chaney, who has worked at the ground since 2004, was in the right place at the right time and, without meaning to, caught the descending ball in his beer bucket.
The feat was greeted with cheers and a standing ovation and was jokingly referred to as the “catch of the day”.
