Top jockey cleared to race after spiked drink fears
One of the top jockeys in Hong Kong has been cleared to race again following concerns his drink had been spiked on a night out.
According to the South China Morning Post, Zac Purton, was on a night out in Lan Kwai Fong when he was taken ill and submitted to Queen Mary Hospital.
Chinese media reports speculated his drink had been spiked with GHB and for two days after the incident Purton was not to be seen riding on the track.
However, after being cleared following a voluntary drugs test, Purton dismissed the reports saying it “is not the first time” he’d asked to be tested following a night out and he was often in hospital for check-ups.
Two horses from David Hall’s stables were meanwhile withdrawn from the next meeting at Happy Valley meeting, following the discovery of arsenic in their urine.
