CIVB opens submissions for ‘Today’s Bordeaux’
The Bordeaux Wine Council (CIVB) is inviting US importers to participate in the ninth “Today’s Bordeaux: 100 wines under US$55” competition.
Wines can be red, white, rosé, sparkling or sweet Bordeaux priced between $10 and $55 retail.
All of the wines must be submitted by 21 May and then the entries will be tasted by a panel of leading industry figures headed by the CIVB’s market advisor, Mary Gorman-McAdams MW.
One hundred wines will then be chosen and presented at a media event in New York City on 24 June this year.
The selection will remain a “pivotal initiative” throughout the rest of 2014 and into 2015 and will be widely covered on the CIVB’s website, in trade and consumer press and social media.
As well as the wine falling between the stated price bracket, entries are only accepted from the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington DC, and Washington State.
Entries must also be submitted with some technical information, the price, the number of cases imported, the grape varieties used in the blend and a high resolution picture of the label.
To receive a submission form or ask about the submission process, please email Florian Zuani of Sopexa US at florian.zuani@sopexa.com. The deadline to receive the submission form is 15 May 2014.
Importers must send four bottles of each wine they plan to submit by May 21, 2014. Please send bottles to:
