Ghana to host first beer and wine festival

Ghana’s first ever International Beer and Wine Festival will take place this weekend at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The three-day event is scheduled to take place on the 12, 13 and 14 of February, and will showcase various beer and wine brands in Africa and abroad.

Organised by the Ghana Industrial Holding Company in collaboration with TT Brothers and the Royal Protocol Services, the event will be based on the theme “Tickle Your Taste Buds-Tickle Your Love Life.”

As such, it will feature educational seminars on love, life and the health benefits of beer and wine from healthcare professionals and industry experts.

Speaking to Ghanaweb.com, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, minister of tourism, culture and creative arts, said: “It is the Ministry’s belief that public private partnerships programs and activities such as beer and wine festival, would contribute significant impacts to the industry and contribute to the Gross Domestic product.”

She added: “The event would also help to deal effectively with the excesses and social risks of alcohol abuse through healthy interactive sessions and identify opportunities for the local businesses”

The event will also feature entertainment incorporating a drinking competition, beer and wine sampling and musical performances.
