Pub fruit machine prize limits increase
Prize limits handed out by pub fruit machines will rise to £100 from midnight tonight.
The current prize limit for fruit machines, classed as a category C machine, were previously set at £70.
New regulations will come into effect tonight allowing prize limits to rise to £100 – a change that campaigners hope will ensure the machines continue to provide sustainable revenue for pubs.
The move has been welcomed by the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) which has long campaigned for the increase.
Brigid Simmonds, chief executive of the BBPA said: “This is a welcome move, and we have long campaigned for it. It protects machine income so helps pubs, and should also increase innovation and investment in machines, which is largely a UK based industry. And it is good to see another pub-friendly measure from the Government.”
