Man goes back into burning house to rescue his beer
A man in the US has told a local television news station how he was nearly killed after he returned to a burning house in order to rescue a case of beer.
Walter Serpit and his family managed to escape from their burning home in Georgia, after they were watching television and the room started filling with smoke. Serpit, who walks with a cane, got out of the property, but decided to return to try and save his Bud Light from the fridge.
Serpit told WTVM News: “I told them to get the kids out and everything, and me myself, being an alcoholic, I was trying to get my beer out.”
He added: “I went back into the house like a dummy and the door shut on me because of this back draft. It was about to kill me.”
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, but residents are blaming a newly installed water heater.
That’s the power of Bud Light…
