Lanson marks milestone in vintage style
Champagne Lanson is marking 100 years of vintage Champagne production with the launch of its Gold Label 2004.

A century after Victor Lanson created the house’s inaugural 1904 vintage expression, current chef de cave Jean-Paul Gandon (left) produced this brut style blend of 48% Chardonnay and 52% Pinot Noir from a collection of grand cru vineyards in Champagne.
In keeping with the Lanson house style, the Gold Label 2004 does not undergo malolactic fermentation, which the house claims is designed to improve the Champagne’s ageability.
“We are really excited about releasing this particular vintage, not least because of the outstanding quality,” said Paul Beavis, managing director of Lanson International. “The fact that it echoes 100 years of our tradition of making great vintage Champagnes adds an extra sparkle to the launch.”
To support this launch, Beavis announced plans to invest in the creation of “short educational films”, which will run across the house’s social media platforms during the next year.
“Champagne Lanson now has the largest Facebook following in the UK of all Champagne brands, so this is a great opportunity for us to engage our customers in our story,” said Beavis.
