Gosset launches 2002 prestige cuvée
Champagne Gosset has released the 2002 vintage of its prestige cuvée, Celebris, which has been described by its cellar master as having “great finesse.”
Gosset Celebris Extra Brut 2002
Celebris Extra Brut 2002 is a blend of 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir and was produced without malolactic fermentation.
“2002 was a great vintage, characterised by a cold winter followed by a rise in temperatures,” said Gosset’s cellar master Jean-Pierre Mareigner.
“Glorious days during the harvest favoured the concentration in sugar and produced healthy grapes. The resulting wines are straight, tensed, fruity and structured,” he added.
Mareigner describes the low dosage wine as “clear gold” in colour, with “delicate floral aromas of lilac and violets” on the nose and “notes of green apple, fresh pineapple and lemon” on the palate.
“It’s a subtle wine with a direct and lively attack, great finesse and good length,” he said.
Celebris Extra Brut 2002 has an RRP of £135 a bottle and is distributed in the UK by McKinley Vintners.
