New Prosecco raises the style stakes
London Fashion Week has seen the arrival of a new Prosecco in the UK market, which aims to add “style and innovation” to the growing sparkling wine sector.
Owned and distributed by German firm MBG, Scavi & Ray originally launched in 2007 with a Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio, and is already available in locations including Dubai, Oman, Majorca, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Brussels, Prague, Mexico City and around the Black Sea.
Following on from a tie-in with Berlin Fashion Week, the brand is being served as a number of events during the London catwalk shows this week such as the PPQ pre-runway party and the Toni & Guy salon at Somerset House.
“We decided to launch Scavi & Ray into the UK market after recognising an opportunity for a premium Prosecco brand to take the lead in the category,” explained UK marketing manager Sheena Darji.
Noting the size of the opportunity in this market, she continued: “Prosecco sales are rising 50% year-on-year, outperforming the growth of both Cava and Champagne and there is currently no Prosecco brand leading the sector.
“With consumer demand at an all-time high, it’s the perfect time to launch in the UK and we’re delighted to introduce Scavi & Ray to add some style and innovation to this fast growing category.”
With a £12.99 RRP for its 750ml bottle, Scavi & Ray is also offered in magnum, Jeroboam and a 200ml “Piccolo” format. In addition to the core Prosecco offering, its UK range includes a rosato frizzante and Hugo, a pre-mixed Prosecco and elderflower cocktail.
Scavi & Ray has formed a partnership with wholesaler Imbibe, which will focus on distributing the Prosecco across the London on-trade sector.
