A bear walks into a bar

It sounds like the opening line to a joke, but this was a seriously unfunny situation for patrons of Lonigan’s Bar in Estes Park Colorado after a huge black bear walked into the pub.

The bear’s walk around the bar was captured on CCTV and although it does sound like a terrifying situation, apparently most customers failed to notice the giant intruder.

The bar is located close to the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Daniel Lyell said he saw the bear walking into the bar and tried to warn the people inside, he said: “I tried to holler ‘bear’, so people could hear me but they were oblivious. He kept wandering up to the middle bar where all the patrons were.”

Owner Dave Callahan confirmed that many people inside the pub were not aware they had had such a potentially dangerous visitor. Callahan said: “Nobody even realised it was there, I missed seeing it. We are in the Rocky ­Mountains, it’s their territory not ours.”
