Cider ‘on offer’ thanks to Tesco discount glitch
Cider worth £36 has been selling for £5 at Tesco and shoppers have been snapping up the bargain after details of the glitch were shared in an online forum.
A member of Hot Deals UK posted this picture of the Tesco cider deal
Eagle-eyed bargain hunters spotted that eight-pack boxes of Thatchers Gold cider were included in Tesco’s three-for-£5 deal, giving customers a £31 saving on three boxes of the product.
Details of the glitch were posted on the Hot UK Deals website, with one member claiming to have bought nine boxes of the cider. The £15 cost of those nine boxes brought a saving of £83.39 on the order.
The Daily Telegraph reported that another member said on the forum: “Found deal and ordered six boxes for £10 + £2 pick up slot. As I am picking up tomorrow it has added discount so it went from £72 to a tenner. A great bargain if it comes off!!! Fingers crossed!”
This is not the first time the supermarket giant has fallen foul of an alcohol price glitch.
Last year a deal on Ogio red and white wines saw bottles that normally retail for £9.99 on sale for £1.50. In that instance one shopper picked up six bottles of the wine for £9.01.
