Acker CEO releases tasting notes book
John Kapon, CEO of Acker Merrall & Condit, has released a book detailing his encounters with the world’s finest wines.
Kapon at Pétrus
“The Compendium: Tasting the World’s Finest Wines – Volume 1” is a collection of Kapon’s decade’s worth of tasting notes covering some of the finest wines available, in all manner of settings.
The book includes notes taken at a variety of exclusive tastings and dinners, notably the Château Margaux dinner held on the Great Wall of China and a New Year’s Eve party with Champagne expert Richard Juhlin.
Hundreds of tasting notes are included and the whole book is illustrated with pictures of the estates and vineyards in question.
Kapon said: “This is a book about love, really. My passion for sharing great wine with great people is the driver behind everything that I do.
“I have been creating and conducting great wine events as long as I have been able to drink, and I consider myself blessed in my experiences – I only wish I could share every experience that I have ever had. I know I will be truly successful when I am able to share every note about every wine that I taste.
“This book is my first attempt to formally share some of these truly amazing moments, as well as hopefully provide collectors a look into how the mature wines of the world are changing and developing. To me, there is nothing better than aged wine.”
And how many of those wines were tasted with his friend Rudy Kurniawan…?
There’s a nasty stench about John Kapon—and it’s not the sweet smell of Château Margaux.
