Moet man to head up Champagne union
Moët’s Jean-Marie Barillère will become president of the Union des Maisons de Champagne (UMC) in March this year.

Barillère is director of Champagne resources at Moët Hennessy and currently vice-president at the UMC, working alongside Ghislain de Montgolfier, former Bollinger president, who has headed up the UMC since 2007.
Although formally elected to the position of president on Wednesday last week (16 January 2013), Barillère won’t take up the post for another two months, heading up the organisation from March. He will hold the position of president for three years.
Prior to his role at Moet-Hennessy, Barillère was director of Pernod Ricard Champagne houses Perrier-Jouët and Mumm from 1999 to 2005.
The promotion of Barillère will allow Ghislain de Montgolfier to devote his full attention to the Union des Maisons & Marques de Vin (UMVIN), an association he has presided over since 2010.
