New director for Calon-Ségur named
Bordeaux third growth Calon-Ségur has announced that Laurent Dufau will take up the position of director this spring.
Dufau, currently director of négocient Balande & Méneret, will take up his new role in March according to Terre de Vins.
In July last year the property was bought by Suravenir Assurances from the Capbern-Gasqueton family in a deal believed to be worth around €170 million.
Dufau told the French site that he was a “Médocain” and had leapt at the chance to remain in the region and work once again on vineyard after six years in the commercial side of the wine industry.
He revealed little about his plans and responsibilities, merely adding: “It is still too early to talk in detail about the new owner’s plans for Calon-Ségur or about my new responsibilities.
“All will be made official around the en primeurs. But I can say that we have many plans and ideas.”
Some buyers may have already smelt price increases in future vintages, and Liv-ex noticed an up-tick in trade on the index in September last year.
