Italian wines to make a splash in Hong Kong in December
Asia’s biggest showcase of Italian Wines, ‘Great Wines of Italy’ will draw trade and consumers to Hong Kong’s Island Shangri-La hotel on the 4th of December

Although Hong Kong’s winter months can hardly be called brutal, next month’s ‘Great Wines of Italy’ trade and consumer extravaganza will bring a little Italian warmth and sunshine to Hong Kong next month.
Showcasing 300 of their top wines, over 90 Italian wine producers will make the trip to Hong Kong shores to attend the event.
With one tasting for trade to be followed by a consumer version, event hosts Edipresse – responsible for high-society mag Hong Kong Tatler – are hoping to attract interest from across the board.
There to help Hong Kong’s wine lovers find their way around Italy’s finest selections is James Suckling, known globally as one the world’s most influential wine critics.
“The renaissance of premium Italian wine is happening now in Hong Kong and never before has Italy made so many great wines in so many different regions,” he said.
“This historic occasion will be a treat for industry specialists, wine traders, collectors and anyone with a passion for great wine.”
Among top producers attending are Antinori, Frescobaldi, Ornellaia, Bruno Giacosa, Casanova di Neri (Brunello di Montalcino), San Guido (Sassicaia), Castiglion del Bosco, Tenuta Sette Ponti – Feudo Maccari – Orma, Casanova di Neri, Il Borro (Ferruccio Ferragamo), Giacomo, Neri, Valdicava, Castello Banfi, Ceretto and Roberto Voerzio.
The showcase will be followed by a VIP Gala Dinner on the 5th of December – a 9-course extravaganza by Michelin-star Chinese cuisine by Chef Ip Chi-cheung of the Island Shangri-La’s signature Cantonese restaurant Summer Palace.
The Gala Dinner will also feature an exclusive preview wine auction of rare vintages led by Acker Merrall & Condit Company, America’s oldest wine shop.
Glassware partner Spiegelau will provide the glasses for the events.
