1988 Romanee Conti leads Acker Merrall’s Hong Kong sale
Over 1,000 lots of fine and rare wines to be presented in Hong Kong in November sale
A case of 1988 Romanee Conti is offered in NovemberAcker Merrall & Condit, one of the world’s leading wine auction houses and America’s oldest fine wine merchant, will return to Hong Kong after successful September sales to present an extensive range of lots, with an estimated value of over HK$45 million (£3.6 million) on 9 & 10 November at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
“The remarkable results of our September sale once again demonstrated the continuous demand for great wines in Hong Kong as well as the leading position of Acker Merrall,” John Kapon, CEO of Acker Merrall & Condit Companies, said.
“The market is loading back up, and we are witnessing increasing demand for classical and mature wines from Europe and California. The wine market overall is strengthening through diversification. Fabulous collections of Bordeaux, Burgundy and California will be featured in our upcoming auction.
“We are also very privileged to present a unique offering of wines directly from Domaine Faiveley and Domaine Hubert Lignier, two of Burgundy’s premier Domaines, that includes some of the most prized and rarest wines from their cellars.”
An outstanding fifteen vintages of DRC as well as three vintages of DRC Assortments will be featured in the Burgundy section.
The sale is led by an extremely rare case of 1988 Romanee Conti in their original wooden case (Estimate: HK$750,000-900,000 (£60,000 – 72,000), along with several other DRC lots including six bottles each of 1993, 1997 and 1989.
Full cases of Petrus 1989 (Estimate: HK$360,000- 480,000/£29,000 – 38,500) and 1982 (Estimate: HK$360,000- 480,000/£29,000 – 38,500), again in their original wooden cases, also make an appearance.
A diverse selection from an important American collector including fine wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Spain, Italy, Australia and California makes up the largest and the most diverse featured cellar of Acker’s November sale, alongside a selection from a local collector.
