Guala Closures moves into South Africa
Leading manufacturer of aluminium closures buys South African company.
Guala Closures Group has completed the acquisition of the Metal Closures division of MCG Industries, the leading producer of aluminium closures in South Africa.
Guala Closures is a global manufacturer of anti-refillable and aluminium closures for spirits, wines, beverages and olive oil.
The €20m acquisition has been approved by the South African Competition Commission.
In a statement the company said this, “represents a further step in Guala Closures’ strategy of consolidating its core business and strengthening the Group’s presence in the fast-growing sub-Saharan African market.”
Metal Closures manufactures a broad range of aluminium closures to companies throughout South Africa and operates out of Cape Town.
In 2011, Guala Closures Group recorded a turnover of €410m and currently employs 3,800 staff with 24 manufacturing plants worldwide.
