Condé Nast expands restaurant empire
Condé Nast Restaurants is expanding its reach to the Middle East, with two new ventures set to open in Dubai.
Vogue Café’s Moscow branch
Vogue Café is due to arrive before the end of 2012, located within the Shoe District level of The Dubai Mall, 96,000 square foot luxury retail space. Operated in partnership with Ginza Restaurants, the venue will offer a coffee lounge and “selection of international cuisine”, although in keeping with local laws, no alcohol will be served.
Scheduled to open in 2013, the GQ Bar will target a more international clientele from its five star hotel base, an environment where alcohol is permitted and widely available.
Describing the ventures as forming “an integral part of Condé Nast International’s strategy to expand its celebrated media brands into restaurants and bars around the world,” Stuart Nielsen, director of Condé Nast Restaurants, said: “We are working with the best local partners in Dubai, and will absolutely respect the laws and values of the land.”
In addition to this first step into the Middle East, Condé Nast Restaurants has confirmed the opening of GQ Bar Istanbul last this year, as well as Vogue Café Kiev in 2013.
The group already operates a number of venues in Moscow and has outlined plans for a programme which will reach beyond the 25 countries where its magazines are published to “encompass new and emerging markets where the brands do not have a local presence.”
