Discovery Wines joins forces with Bottle Green
Discovery Wines and Bottle Green have announced a partnership to strengthen their combined offer across the UK on-trade and independent sectors.
The strategic shift will see Discovery’s founder Antony McIndoe join the Bottle Green team, bringing with him the New World specialist’s portfolio and independent wholesale customer base.
The Discovery portfolio will be used to augment “Bottle Green Wines”, a new arm of the Leeds-based company, which is due to launch at this year’s London International Wine Fair and features a selection of wines targeted directly at the independent and on-trade.
Commenting on this decision, McIndoe said: “We are delighted to be joining forces with the expertise and reputation of Bottle Green and look forward to working together to provide a powerful new proposition to the on-trade and independent sectors.
“We are very excited about being able to showcase our new ranges at the London Wine Fair and meeting existing and prospective customers alike.”
In addition to Discovery Wines’ brands such as Vistamar from Chile and The Landings from Australian, Bottle Green has developed its own portfolio in line with its target customer base.
Promising “a comprehensive Champagne offering”, the range will also feature new brands such as Paysage, a French varietal range, and Il Caggio, a collection of “classic Italian staples”.
Jon Eagle, managing director of Bottle Green, explained the initiative, saying: “I believe our hard-earned know-how from servicing the wine trade since 1990 has put us in the ideal place to leverage this expertise and bring a fresh, new range of wines to the on-trade and independent marketplace.
“We are excited to be entering this new field with such a strong range of wines from across the globe. As with all our ranges, it goes without saying that superb quality and value are at the heart of our new portfolio.”
The companies will continue to focus on developing wholesale business rather than servicing individual outlets.
Discovery has also assured its existing customers that there will be no changes to their account management, product availability or service.
