Third Sainsbury’s buyer departs
David Peek is to leave the Sainsbury’s wine buying team for a new role at Copestick Murray.
He is the third buyer to leave since December last year, with Clem Yates MW and Julian Dyer departing for Off-Piste Wines and Australian Vintage respectively.
Andy Phelps, category manager for BWS at Sainsbury’s, said: “Since joining Sainsbury’s almost two years ago David has made a significant contribution to the sparkling wine, Champagne, Italy and South African categories.
“We wish him the best of luck in his new role. Mark Juggins, an experienced buyer already at Sainsbury’s will join the team in April.”
Since last year, Sainbury’s has in fact lost four buyers, with the departure of Justin James to the higher echelons of the multiple retailer in May.
