Bonhams looks to Burgundy for next sale

Bonhams’ March sale next week will focus on the very best names from Burgundy, part of an “eclectic collection”.

Names on offer at the sale on Thursday 29 include: Robert Arnoux, Sylvain Cathiard, Chandon de Briailles, Coche-Dury, Domaine Dujac, Fontaine-Gagnard, Vincent Girardin, Jean Grivot, Lucien Jacob, Domaine Leflaive, Perrot-Minot, Domaine de Montille as well as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

Other highlights include many pre-1990 Bordeaux, with collections of 1966, 1970 and 1983 but there are also plenty of younger clarets, such as two imperials of 2000 La Mission Haut-Brion (£4,000-5,0000 each) and six magnums of 1996 Lafite (£7,000-8,000).

There is also an excellent selection of Yquem including a bottle of 1921 (£4,400-5,200) and three bottles of 1947 at £2,400-3,000.

The cellar is described as “wonderfully eclectic” and includes other wines from Australia, Sapin, Italy, Germany, Alsace, Bandol and the Rhône.

There is also a selection of fine South African wines to augment the New World offering.

The selection on offer in this sale will make Bonhams the most interesting wine shop in London on 29 March.’
