Ruinart app digs deep
Ruinart has launched an app offering virtual tours of the Champagne house’s historic cellars.
Forming part of a nearly 2,000 year old vast underground network lying 38 metres below the city of Reims known as the crayères, the Ruinart cellars occupy eight kilometres spread over three levels and have been owned by the house since 1768.
In order to create this experience, the house reworked its cellar lighting to allow cameras to capture fine details as part of the 360º tour. By turning their iPhone or iPad in the desired direction, users are free to navigate their own way through the crayères.
The free app also features a history of the house, while the voice of Ruinart cellar master Frédéric Panaïotis takes visitors through a personalised tour of the wines, introducing the house’s signature Chardonnay-led style.
