New man at Moët & Chandon helm
Moët & Chandon has appointed Stephane Baschiera as its new managing director, effective March 2012.
Baschiera (left), who has been chief executive officer of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin since 2009, has previously held a number of senior positions with Moët Hennessy, the wines and spirits division of LVMH.
Since joining the company in 1996, Baschiera has been commercial director of Moët Hennessy Diageo France, director of Moët Hennessy in Italy and then chief executive officer of Ruinart.
Baschiera succeeds Daniel Lalonde as CEO of Moët & Chandon. Lalonde took on the role in July 2010.
In confirming his appointment, LVMH spoke of Baschiera’s contribution to the “excellent performance” of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin since his appointment there in 2009.
His role at Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin will be filled by Marc Lacave, who joined the watches and jewellery division of LVMH in the UK in 2001. Since 2007 he has been chief executive officer of watches and jewellery in Asia.
I was given a gift box with 4 mini moet 200ml on opening they were all flat does champagne go off after time?
Yes and no, it’s a question of storage really. You may have also received a faulty box that usually get picked up and rejected at the bottling stage. One potential problem with the very small bottles is the Champagne has to be transferred from larger bottles as the houses tend not to produce Champagne in anything smaller than 75cl or larger than 3 litres.
Therefore, as the Champagne was transferred there may have been a problem. Bad storage though contributes greatly to defects. Champagne will get less fizzy over time, a process that will be accelerated if the conditions are bad, particularly if the wine is subjected to wild temperature fluctuations.
