Alesha Dixon’s First Cape deal to end
First Cape has confirmed that Alesha Dixon’s current contract as brand ambassador for its low-alcohol Café Collection range expires at the end of the year.
The news follows Dixon’s erratic behaviour on TV show Alan Carr’s Chatty Man last week, during which she appeared drunk and was seen swigging wine straight from the bottle.
Earlier that evening the singer and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant had been present at a First Cape Café Collection event in London, though organisers insist the singer only drank a small amount of low-alcohol wine at the event.
A First Cape spokesperson told the drinks business: “Alesha Dixon was brought on board to promote the FirstCape Café Collection Queen of Chat campaign and we have been very pleased with her work for the brand to date.
“Alesha’s appearance on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man was not organised by FirstCape Café Collection.
“We understand that Alesha was entering into the spirit of the programme but has apologised for her uncharacteristic behaviour.
“Prior to filming Chatty Man, Alesha had been at the First Cape Café Collection Queen of Chat event to announce the winner of the nationwide competition. Alesha only drank a small amount of lighter style wine at this event.
“Alesha Dixon will continue to work with FirstCape until the end of 2011 when her current contract expires.”
