Spar backs National Wine Month
Convenience retailer Spar is proactively supporting National Wine Month. The initiative, co-ordinated by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, launched this year for the first time with the aim of increasing consumer wine knowledge.
National Wine Month runs throughout May and aims to take consumers beyond their normal wine boundaries and encourage them to enjoy something new.
Spar is supporting the initiative through its own National Wine Festival. In its second year, the Spar Wine Festival runs across 1,200 licensed stores throughout May and aims to encourage consumers to try something new and improve their knowledge, palates and interest in wine by offering savings on over 50 wines from France and Australia, all discounted by at least 25%.
Spar’s wine trading controller, Xenia Irwin MW, said: “As the only convenience retailer to be a sponsor of this year’s National Wine Month, we believe it shows our commitment to our wines and wine consumers.
“Both the timing and aims of National Wine Month dovetail perfectly with our wine festival. We want to encourage customers to explore our range and take advantage of these great offers.”
Spar operates 2,000 stores across the UK and has a turnover of over £2.6 billion.
