DB Awards: Independent Retailer of the Year
Continuing our look at previous DB Award winners, today we look at the winner of the Independent Retailer category, Corks Out in Chester.
Independent |
This highly contested category, sponsored by Provence Wines, was one that excited and tested the judges. One commented at the outset: “I was very encouraged by the standard of entries – the quality has gone up year on year.
“It is very encouraging to see a thriving and growing independent sector and new imaginative approaches to retailing quality wine.”
There could only be one winner though and that was Corks Out. The judges were impressed by the high level of professionalism, the well thought-through business plan, slick operations and it was felt that this retailer punched well above its weight.
Cambridge Wine Merchants was a close runner-up, showing flair and commitment to staff training.
