PLB and Clink Wines secure Spanish deals

Importer PLB has been appointed UK agent for Rioja winery Bodegas Navajas.

The family-run agency, located in the town of Navarrete in La Rioja, will be a key strategic focus for PLB’s growing wholesale division.

"Spain is performing extremely well in the UK and we see this appointment as a great opportunity. The Bodegas Navajas wines are complementary to our portfolio, giving us a very strong Spanish proposition to offer customers”, said PLB’s European buying director, Nick Tatham MW.

The Navajas range consists of a joven, crianza – including white and rosé styles – reserva and gran reserva.

PLB’s Spanish portfolio represents wineries from key wine regions across La Rioja, Rueda, Ribera del Duero, Valdepeñas, Navarra and Castilla y León, as well as Valencia, Alicante, DO Cariñena, Toro, Rías Baixas, Cava and Sherry.

Meanwhile, Clink Wines has won the UK and Ireland distribution for family-owned Spanish wine firm Vini Galicia, which produces wine in Ribeira Sacra, Rias Baixas and La Mancha.

“We have significantly increased our focus on the Spanish category, so it’s great to have premium wines from Riberia Sacra and Rias Baixas in the portfolio”, said Clink managing director Catherine Monahan.

Clink’s La Capilla Spanish brand has sold of over 200,000 cases in the past two years.

Vini Galicia was previously represented in the UK by PLB.
