Vinotheque offers the ultimate in cellarage

Vinothèque operates from a massively constructed 19th century Grade-II listed building in Staffordshire, consisting of 200,000 square feet of ideal environment for long-term cellarage of fine and maturing wines.

The 19th century grade II listed industrial building in Burton-upon-Trent displays all the expected characteristics of the Victorian period in which it was built – elegance and grandeur, combined with practicality and efficiency.

It was constructed and conceived for the housing of grain for the local brewery, but the architects and builders that designed it over one hundred years ago could easily have had wine storage in mind, so well suited is the building to its current use.

The warehouse has seen expenditure exceeding £1.5 million in recent years to create storage conditions and security that is second-to-none.

Its metre-thick, red brick walls ensure a constant and steady temperature, cool enough to ensure the precious property within remains unaffected by the fluctuating weather patterns that affect the outside world.

Its four floors have all been designed with wine in mind. The ground floor features grand columns and ceilings that are the hallmarks of the period’s industrial architecture and are now ideally suited to the storage of faster-moving stocks of wines.

The upper three floors are more intimate, more compact, and hence ideal for the cellaring of fine wines during maturation and those that require long-term storage.

Equally important, the warehouse is physically secure and protected by a state of the art intruder alarm system.

The heavy oak doors and significant ironmongery from yesteryear have been boosted by state-of-the-art CCTV cameras that monitor every angle and corner of the building, inside and out, extensively.

A security company – the same firm that protects the major banks and high value businesses elsewhere in the area – has 24/7 security patrols, and there are, of course, all the usual security checks and monitors on all staff and visitors to and from the site.

As a subsidiary of London City Bond (LCB), Vinothèque is plugged into LCB’s national in house distribution service which means that it can deliver anywhere on the UK mainland in its own vehicles, usually within 48 hours.

The regional distribution depots at Burton, Wakefield, London, Chippenham and Paisley are all linked into the system enabling you to track your order as it moves through the delivery cycle.
