Mongoose curries favour

The oven gloves have come off in the battle for Britain’s biggest “curry” beer.

With the launch of Mongoose Premium Ale, Wells & Young’s is entering the Indian restaurant sector and attempting to pull the tablecloth from under the market leaders Cobra and Kingfisher.

The Bedford-based brewer has breathed life back into its own old Indian brewing recipe and named after the animal famed for being able to conquer cobras and, presumably, kingfishers.

In partnership with Ghandi wine supplier, the beer will initially be aimed at the Indian restaurant market in London and the South East.

The best beer match to go with curry is German Wheat Beer. It is never too gassy and it helps ‘put out the fire’ of the spice. Can’t you get it in Indian restaurants? Can you heck!
