Liv-ex launches daily fine wine index
Liv-ex has introduced its first daily fine wine index, dubbed the Liv-ex Fine Wine 50.
The fine wine exchange’s latest index tracks the daily price movements of the five Bordeaux first growths.
Each of the first growths is represented on the index by one 12-bottle case.
En primeur wines are excluded from the display and only the ten most recent “physical” vintages are shown – which currently covers 1998-2007.
Vintages are displayed three years after the harvest and will be removed after ten years.
Everything is calculated at 5pm, UK time, and posted on Liv-ex’s website the following morning.
Jack Hibberd, research manager at Liv-ex, explained to the drinks business that it was: “Updated daily, straightforward, accurate and provides everyone from merchants, to traders and casual collectors with daily market information on the fine wine market.”
