Public set for Paramount experience
Paramount restaurant and bar in London’s Centre Point tower will open its doors to the public for the first time on Friday, 14 May.
Owners Pierre and Kathleen Condou have decided to open the former members’ bar to the public in response to “overwhelming demand and interest” since Paramount first launched in November 2008.
The bar offers 360-degree views across London and occupies the top three floors of one of the city’s most prominent buildings, Centre Point.
The site features an events space on the 31st floor, a restaurant, private dining room and bar on the 32nd floor, with a Champagne and viewing gallery on the top floor of the Centre Point tower.
British interior designer Tom Dixon has designed an environment in which guests can drink, dine and entertain in a “boldly designed space that reflects architect Richard Seifert’s sophisticated but modernist design of the Centre Point building,” according to the owners.
Key features of the restaurant and bar space include a grand copper bar situated in the middle of the room which welcomes guests upon arrival, vintage furniture pieces chosen by Dixon and low mood lighting to set off the views.
In the restaurant, head chef Colin Layfield will be serving a predominantly British menu.
The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday and for lunch and dinner on Saturday.
Dishes on the å la carte menu will include: quail, potato and green bean salad with walnuts; pigeon with polenta, parmesan and rocket; pollock with brown butter, shrimp and lemon terrine with raspberry foam and Champagne sorbet.
The private dining room will be also available for breakfast meetings, lunches, dinners as well as all–day meetings.
The events space measure 4,550 square feet with a 10-metre-long bar facing west that has been designed specifically for private events – dinners, screenings, weddings, meetings, launches and presentations – and is able to accommodate 350 people standing or 160 seated.
