Get fizzy at France Under One Roof
French fizz is set to take centre stage in London next week as France Under One Roof gets off to a sparkling start.
Sarah Jane Evans MW will kick off the show with a tasting of value-for-money French sparkling wines at 9.45am on Tuesday, 10 March, at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Sparkling wine consumption in Britain outstripped that of Champagne in 2010, with 31% of consumers drinking cheaper sparklers rather than expensive fizz.
The current market value is £57 million, and Mintel predicts this will rise to £69m in 2014.
Meanwhile, over 30 French non-listed wines will be showcased on a special stand at this year’s tasting.
The wines, from all regions of France, were selected by an independent panel of UK wine experts as being of special interest for the British market.
This selection will also include wines from lesser-known appellations, showcasing the diversity of French wines.
