Campo Viejo puts wine first
Campo Viejo is encouraging UK diners to adopt a fresh, wine-focused approach to eating out with its new “Viva el Vino” initiative.
The Rioja brand has forged a partnership with South London-based Spanish restaurant Rebato’s, which will invite clientele to make their selection from the wine list without seeing the menu. The restaurant team will then serve a spread of tapas which best complements each table’s wine choice.
The scheme is due to run at Rebato’s from 18 January until 15 February, before the campaign extends to a select group of leading Spanish restaurants around the UK. An initial “Viva el Vino” trial has already been launched at London tapas chain Pinchito.
Mathew Bird, marketing controller for Campo Viejo, outlined how “our inventive menus will ensure diners have an extra special evening sampling the diverse Campo Viejo range, which the talented Rebato’s chefs will match perfectly to a whole host of delicious tapas.”
Meanwhile Marco Rebato, owner of Rebato’s explained: “The Viva El Vino scheme is a great way of getting people to really think about the wine and food they are enjoying and understand how a great wine can complement and lift the flavours of the dishes they eat.”
