Makeover complete for Liverpool hotel

The final multi-million pound touches have been made to Liverpool’s Hope Street Hotel. The major extension project has added six storeys to the hotel, giving it 41 extra bedrooms, including two duplex penthouses.

As part of its makeover, Hope Street also now boasts a new exterior and reception, as well as improved wedding and conference facilities with the addition of two rooftop function rooms offering panoramic views across the city, river Mersey and the Welsh mountains.

Inside, the hotel has been given an equally stylish facelift, from its exposed brick walls to the solid oak floors and bespoke cherry and walnut wood furniture. A slate doorway now connects the new entrance with Hope Street’s restaurant, The London Carriageworks, which has built a reputation for its ambitious dishes based on quality local produce.

The two-year development, which cost £4.5 million, was the brainchild of the hotel’s owner, Dave Brewitt, who is also a property developer. Setting Hope Street within the context of neighbouring landmarks, which include Liverpool’s two cathedrals, he remarked: “I hope this new building will become part of the architectural fabric of the street for years to come and join the ranks of the other classic designs of their day.”
