Supermarket Poppy Appeal
Two British supermarkets have joined forces with Portuguese brand Tagus Creek in the hope of raising more then £100,000 during a fundraising campaign for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
For every bottle of Tagus Creek sold in Morrisons from 2 – 15 November and Waitrose between 4 – 11 November, £1 will be donated to the Royal British Legion.
Between now and then, and following on until Christmas, 5p from every bottle sold will be donated to the Royal British Legion by the producer.
Nick Oakley, Tagus Creek’s UK importer said he hoped to encourage participation from more retailers in the fundraising.
"When we suggested the promotion to Morrisons and Waitrose they jumped at the chance to get involved. We’re now hoping that other retailers will follow suit and join us. It’s never been more important for us to remember and recognise the bravery of those who have fought on our behalf in conflicts both current and in the past."
The fundraising appeal will be highlighted in stores through Tagus Creek’s packaging, which will prominently feature a poppy on the neck collar with details of The Royal British Legion on the back label. The initiative will also be supported by a direct marketing consumer campaign.
