Galvin appoints new sommelier
Galvin Restaurants has appointed Andrea Briccarello to the role of head sommelier and wine buyer.
Briccarello will oversee the wine list at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on London’s Baker Street, as well as the group’s new fine dining ventures, Galvin La Chapelle and Galvin Café de Luxe, due to open this autumn in Spital Square, close to Liverpool Street.
Briccarello brings a wealth of experience from his previous position as group sommelier and wine buyer for Corrigan’s Mayfair, Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill, and Lindsay House.
His CV also includes Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant Umu and the Connaught Grill. At this year’s Taste of London Briccarello was named ‘Sommelier of the Year 2009’ and in 2008 he was also a finalist in the Champagne JACQUART Rising Stars Trophy.
Offering a hint at his plans for this new role, Briccarello said: “Galvin Restaurants has a great reputation for the affordability and quality of its wine lists that I look forward to building on, particularly with our exciting relationship with Paul Jaboulet Ainé that will soon be seen at Galvin La Chapelle and Galvin Café de Luxe.”
