Hong Kong Wine Club

The owner of the Sunday Times Wine Club has launched a similar club with a newspaper in Hong Kong, the South China Morning Post. Laithwaites launched the club on Saturday 19 September.

The launch comes only two months before Hong Kong’s International Wine & Spirits Fair takes place and the UK-based mail order merchant is planning on a spate of advertising to raise awareness of the club, which Direct Wines’ executive director Simon McMurtie expects to be a huge success.

The move comes after the highly successful launch of Direct Wines to HSBC customers earlier this year, and plans are afoot to roll the club out to the rest of China too.

Direct Wines launched a venture in Germany with Die Welt newspaper earlier this year and with the Wall Street Journal last year.
