Stardust sprinkled on West End

The gloomy London street immortalised by David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust album cover has been transformed into an al fresco dining oasis.

This makeover for Heddon Street is the result of a £1.5 million makeover, representing part of the total £750m being invested in the regeneration of Regent Street and its surrounding area.

Set back from the bustling crowds of shoppers, Heddon Steet has been designed to exude a more tranquil, feel, offering terraces decked with palm and olive trees for a continental feel.

The street houses several bars and restaurants, including Aubaine, Momo, Piccolino and boutique vegetarian restaurant Tibits.

Councillor Robert Davis, deputy leader of Westminster City Council commented: “The West End is changing for the better, and the transformation of Heddon Street from deserted back alley to thriving al fresco hot-spot is testament to that.”

This ongoing Regent Street development project is being overseen by The Crown Estate, which owns the area as part of its £6 billion property portfolio.
